Every child deserves a loving and caring environment.
When children are teased, harassed, or threatened, the impact can be profound. The student on the receiving end may feel isolated, unworthy, and powerless. Tragically, many bullied children later become bullies themselves, seeking a false sense of power by dominating others—allowing the cycle of bullying to spread like a cancer through a school or community if left unaddressed.

Public schools often struggle to effectively respond to bullying—not due to a lack of care or training among teachers, but because they are not permitted to apply the transformative power of Christ’s love. Instead, they’re left playing an endless game of whack-a-mole, where their primary tools are punishment and shame. This approach often reinforces victimhood and can worsen the self-esteem of children already in pain.

At HCA, we do things differently.
We do not tolerate abusive language, threats, teasing, or disrespect. Through a model of progressive discipline, we respond decisively to these behaviors. Yet we do so with Christian love—partnering with parents to counsel students when issues arise. We address the behavior, not the identity, refusing to label children as “bullies.” Instead, we help all students understand their inherent worth as children of God.

And what about the victim?
In many public school environments, a culture of victimhood has taken root. At HCA, we aim to raise children who are resilient—rooted in faith and confident in God’s love. We teach that without a willing victim, bullying loses its power. While we cannot control what others say or do, we can choose how we respond. Empowered by divine confidence, our students are taught to return love for hatred and kindness for cruelty, living out Christ’s command to love our enemies (Matthew 5).
